Martella Refrigeration & Air Conditioning | How We Work

Staff Investment

We believe that you’re only as good as your staff, and as such, we have a specialised team of trade qualified, licensed technicians who receive ongoing training and upskilling. Not to mention our wonderful admin team which works with meticulous attention to detail behind the scenes.

Many of our staff are also members of the Institute of  Refrigeration, Heating & Air Conditioning Engineers of New Zealand Inc., keeping them up to date with an ever-evolving industry and technologies.

Community Support and Involvement

As with the strength of our team, we know that we can only do what we love thanks to the support of the Marlborough community.

As such, giving back to the region is a huge priority for us at Martella Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, and we have supported many local organisations and charities throughout the years. Some of these include:

  • Outward Bound Tau Ihu Course; annually sponsoring a young Marlburian on the Tau Ihu Course.
  • Queen Charlotte Yacht Club rebuild
  • Churchwood Park Scout Group
  • Rarangi Golf Club
  • Employee Volunteer Firefighters

We offer to loan our chiller trailers out to community groups and organisations. Please get in touch if you may have an eligible event.

Safe Work Practices

We are committed to being a safe workplace for all, having achieved ‘SiteWise Gold’ Accreditation as a result of our work in this area.

SiteWise is a New Zealand prequalification system which assesses and grades a contractor's health and safety capability. Achieving Gold means that we have achieved a grade of 90% or above on our annual assessment and shows that we have demonstrated that we have high quality health and safety systems in place.

Safe Environmental Practices

The refrigeration and air conditioning industry is not one historically known for its sustainable nature, but we’re working hard to change that each day, recycling where we can and undertaking responsible refrigerant stewardship.

As responsible refrigeration engineers, we have refrigerant handling licenses and follow industry best practice in the handling of refrigerant gases.

In order to keep up to date with best practices, we follow the Australia and New Zealand Refrigerant Handling Code of Practice and are members of the Climate Control Companies Association of New Zealand (CCCANZ) and the New Zealand Green Building Council (NZGBC).

Some of the ways we are striving to minimise our environmental impact include:

  • Recovering and recycling over 90% of the decommissioned heat pump components we encounter.
  • Opting to use refrigeration brands whose primary refrigerant has a lower Global Warming Potential (GWP).
  • Recovering all redundant refrigerants using best practice techniques.
  • Reclaiming refrigerant gasses and sending them away for approved destruction processes.

Our Services

We offer free quotes for the supply and installation of refrigeration and air conditioning services.

We can assist with regular servicing of your system to ensure validity of any warranty and help prevent small issues from becoming big ones.

If your system breaks down or is not operating correctly, we can send one of our technicians out to fix it. If your system is still under warranty from the manufacturer, we will help you understand the terms of your warranty and invoice you accordingly.
